While there are many different arguments about which console is best, it goes without saying that the Xbox Series X/S is undoubtedly the best choice for gamers on a budget. It offers Game Pass and is paid for over a long time with zero interest. It means that if you want to get high-class gaming right away, then the Xbox is the right choice for you. However, with all those options comes the difficulty of choosing what to play. Don’t worry. We have put together the best selection of cheap gaming options available with the Xbox.
GTA 5
We’re just going to assume that you have Game Pass for this article. If you have an Xbox, then Game Pass is the sensible choice. The first great choice that is available through Game Pass is GTA 5. While it might be one of the older games on the market, it has had regular updates through the GTA Online add-on. It has everything from a real working casino to enjoy – though it’s not quite on a par with the best online casinos on the market – to extra missions and stories to work through. This is without a doubt one of the top choices on the console to play.
Halo Infinite
This is definitely one of the biggest releases on the console. It’s the game that almost everyone has been waiting for since the Xbox was announced – even more so as it was announced as being available on Game Pass on day one, which means that players are getting a Triple A-quality game without forking out Triple A-quality prices. It’s easily one of the biggest bargains on the whole system, and the game’s quality is incredible. If you love Halo, then the latest title to be released to the console is one of the very best. It also has a superb multiplayer mode that can be enjoyed, adding even more layers.
Halo Infinite is one of the best examples of why the Xbox is such a good value. A comparable game for the PS5 would easily cost four or five times what a single month of Game Pass costs. This game is included with the monthly costs, so players don’t have to pay extra for the newest releases – at least the newest releases from Microsoft and its affiliated studios. If there is one apparent reason why the Xbox is well worth your time and money, it’s Halo Infinite being available on Game Pass.
Fallout 4
We know that it’s another old game, but there is a reason why Fallout 4 is on our list. Firstly, Fallout 4 is a great game. It has a lot of depth, and there are some enjoyable gameplay mechanics here. It might not have the story detail that Fallout: New Vegas has, but it’s still a fantastic game.
Secondly, the newer release in the series, Fallout 76, is a big letdown. Fallout 4 was the last very good Fallout release. So, if you’re desperate for some wasteland madness, this is the one to go for. However, there are some other choices that Game Pass offers to players. Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 4, and Fallout 76 are all available on Game Pass, so you can play all of them without any additional cost. If you’re one of the few people who enjoyed Fallout 76, then the option is there for you.
It doesn’t end there either. Wasteland 1, 2, and 3 can all be played through Game Pass. This is a very similar game to the original Fallout games on PC. However, some people might not be aware that Wasteland influenced Fallout’s development. If you want to take a trip into the past, this is the game to check out.
EA Play
We were going to look at some individual games here, but to put it bluntly, there’s just too much available to choose just one. Whether you like football, basketball, or soccer, EA Play covers your sports desires. On top of that, there are also plenty of other titles to choose from in the selection. This includes some of the great Star Wars games that EA has developed in recent times.
EA Play makes Game Pass Ultimate one of the best-value deals in all of gaming.
Forza Motorsport 5
This is another incredible day-one release from Game Pass. The Forza Motorsport series is a huge amount of fun. The series gives players the chance to drive around a sandbox area choosing the races they want to take part in. It’s almost like an updated and slightly more serious version of Burnout Paradise (which is also available on Game Pass Ultimate if you want to go back to the classics). This is a top-class racer, and the fact that it’s available without having to pay extra certainly makes it a competitor to Sony’s Gran Turismo.
Limbo
It’s likely that many people won’t have heard of this game. However, this really is doing it a disservice. Limbo is one of the best puzzle platformers to be released in the last decade. It doesn’t have much in terms of narrative, and the graphics aren’t mind-blowing like in a Triple-A title, but none of that matters.
The gameplay in Limbo is tense, exciting, and enjoyable. Some of the puzzles are quite difficult to solve, but a puzzle platformer should be challenging. It doesn’t treat the player like an idiot, but it does expect you to work to complete the game. If you want to enjoy something that will give you a slice of the old days of gaming but with modern controller response times, then Limbo is a hidden gem on Game Pass.
