An exclusive first-look image for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes has been released by Lionsgate. The main actors, Tom Blyth and Rachel Zegler, are seen relaxing in the woods and holding hands in the Vanity Fair-provided image. The Hunger Games prequel, according to director Francis Lawrence, is a passionate love story “set in a different type of a world in a different period.” On November 17, 2023, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes will debut in theaters all around the world.
The First Look
The photograph was uploaded on actor Blyth’s Instagram account with the ironic message, “Sneak peek at our inconspicuous little movie about 2 perfectly relaxed birdwatchers with no mental damage whatsoever,” which refers to the 18-year-old Coriolanus Snow. Long before Snow is chosen to be the leader of the dystopian nation of Panam, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes takes place, about 64 years before the events of The Hunger Games movies. He is given the responsibility of coaching District 12 tribute Lucy Gray Baird played by Zegler as the 10th annual Hunger Games draw near, beginning a love relationship.
Producer Nina Jacobson told Vanity Fair that while “he is a young man trying to find his way in the world, he also takes choices that foreshadow the man he is becoming.” Snow will encounter “two forces of nature” throughout the course of the movie: the endearing Lucy and the brand-new antagonist Dr. Volumnia Gaul, the head gamemaker and instructor at the Academy. The prequel also stars Kjell Brutscheidt as Tanner, Ashley Liao as Clemensia Dovecote, Peter Dinklage from Game of Thrones as Casca Highbottom, Jason Schwartzman from The Darjeeling Limited as Lucretius “Lucky” Flickerman, and Hunter Schafer from Euphoria as Tigris Snow.
On November 17, 2023, The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes opens in theaters all across the world.
