It is quite an accolade to be recognized as a top place to work but this is exactly what BetMGM has achieved in 2021. Another feather in their cap is that their Chief Executive Officer, Adam Greenblatt, has recently been named as one of the top CEOs in the USA. Glassdoorsees him at number ten out of fifty in the top Small and Medium business rankings. The awards highlight the top leaders that employees love to work for. Greenblatt has a 98% approval rating from anonymous, voluntary reviews that BetMGM’s staff posted on Glassdoor last year.
Glassdoor is a website that brings together job opportunities and top talent allowing people to find a job that is uniquely right for them. One of the things it takes into consideration is whether a company is a great place to work by combining millions of reviews and insights. Employees can review their employer as well as companies posting job availabilities. Launched in 2008 it now features more than one million companies around the world.
The statistics about BetMGM speak for themselves. On Glassdoor, 90% of staff would recommend the company to a friend. Another website, called Great Places to Work also has glowing reviews for the company. Of BetMGM’s 588 employees, 91% say that it is a great place to work compared to 59% at a typical US-based company. People are proud to work there and see the management as being honest and ethical. Employees are made to feel welcome and cared for. Staff feels that they are given a good level of responsibility.
BetMGM is a sports betting and entertainment company that has been a pioneer in the breakthrough online gaming industry. The decision by the Supreme Court in 2019 to overturn a 1992 ruling, means that individual states can now decide what gambling is and is not legal rather than this being a federal matter. This means that online wagering is now legal in twenty states. What you can bet on online varies from real money online casinos and poker to sports betting depending on individual states.
The state that has most recently granted licenses for an online sportsbook is New York and BetMGM has been granted one of these. New York is considered to be a massive opportunity despite the sky-high cost of entry -a one-off $25 million Gaming Commission fee and ongoing taxation of 51% of gross gambling revenues. It is estimated that New York mobile gambling revenues will generate about $482 million for the state coffers from a sports betting market predicted to generate $1 billion of bets. This will mean more jobs in the industry so it is reassuring to know that people are happy working for the likes of BetMGM.
Adam Greenblatt originally hails from South Africa where he attended the University of Capetown. He is a qualified accountant who worked at Rothschild and Co as a Mergers and Acquisitions banker. He went on to play a lead role in the development of the online gambling landscape. He worked for both Ladbrokes and Entain. In 2018 he took up the leadership post at MGM GVC. His response to that news was “I am delighted to have been chosen to lead MGM GVC Interactive at this historic time for the US sports betting and gaming sector. With the combined brands, technology, and market access of our two parent companies, I am determined to make it the most dynamic and successful player in the industry.”
Given where Greenblatt has taken BetMGM over the last three years, it would appear that he is a man who lives up to his word.
