Apple looks set to finally offer a larger display size option for its all-in-one iMac desktop computer line in 2025, according to the latest reports from reliable analysts. The new 32-inch iMac model will apparently switch to using advanced Mini-LED screen technology instead of the IPS LCD panels found in current 24-inch M1 iMacs.
When Apple transitioned its iMac range to its own custom M1 Apple Silicon processors last year, it controversially dropped the 27-inch screen size from the previous Intel-powered generations. This left the colorful 24-inch iMac as the only option for consumers wanting an all-in-one Mac.

However, analysts have now predicted that Apple plans to launch a brand new 32-inch iMac in 2025. This will give customers seeking a larger display more choice. It will also bring back some consistency with Apple’s iMac history, as 32-inch and 27-inch models co-existed for many years.
As well as increasing the viewable screen space compared to the 24-inch iMac, the rumored new 32-inch version will apparently utilize Mini-LED display technology. This will provide superior contrast, deeper blacks, and increased brightness levels compared to conventional IPS LCD panels. It promises to make the 2025 iMac ideal for photo and video editing workflows.
Mini-LED screens have already been introduced to Apple’s higher-end MacBook Pro laptops and are widely expected to come to the iPad Pro range soon. Bringing the advanced display tech to iMac underscores Apple’s intent on eventually transitioning all of its products away from IPS. The company clearly sees Mini-LED as the future.

Noted analyst Mark Gurman has echoed similar predictions about a 2025 launch for a larger 32-inch iMac. Gurman speculates Apple may be intending to leverage the existing design and panel from its Pro Display XDR monitor, which is 32-inches and uses Mini-LED tech.
This suggests the rumored iMac could share the same 6K 6016 x 3384 resolution and 218 pixels per inch density as the Pro Display XDR for crisp Retina-level image quality. Matching the luxury monitor’s specs could allow Apple to more easily turn it into an iMac.
Interestingly, Gurman indicated Apple has already been actively developing the larger 32-inch iMac internally. There is a possibility it could even be ready to launch earlier than 2025 if Apple desired. A late 2024 unveiling has not been ruled out yet.
The compute performance of the 32-inch iMac will presumably come from the rumored M3 chip expected to debut in 2023, or whatever follow-up Apple Silicon processor generation has been released by 2025. Apple is committed to phasing out Intel from all of its Macs.
Until then, Apple is tipped to first refresh the existing 24-inch iMac design during 2023. This should bring performance upgrades with the M2 chip introduced this year. There may also be minor display improvements and added color options based on recent leaks.
But the 24-inch update next year is likely to only be a stopgap until the significantly revamped and enlarged 32-inch Mini-LED model arrives in 2025. Apple knows iMac fans are eager for a larger display option following complaints about the 24-inch screen being too small for power users.
Ultimately, delivering both 24-inch and 32-inch screen sizes for the iMac would bring Apple’s all-in-one desktop range back in line with previous generations. It would also give consumers flexibility to choose the perfect iMac display size to suit their individual needs and budget.
The entire Mac community will be anticipating official confirmation from Apple about its 2025 iMac roadmap plans. But for now, the leaks from trusted Apple insiders point toward an exciting new 32-inch model on the horizon.
