Apple has begun the assembly of the iPhone 13 in India, boosting India’s aim of becoming a manufacturing powerhouse.
According to insiders, the flagship device is being manufactured at Apple’s contract manufacturing partner Foxconn’s site near Chennai.
“We are pleased to start manufacturing Apple iPhone 13 — with its gorgeous design, superior camera systems for amazing photographs and videos, and the incredible performance of the A15 Bionic chip — right here in India for our local customers,” Apple said in a statement.
It is worth noting that Apple began producing iPhones in India in 2017 with the iPhone SE. It presently produces some of the most modern iPhones in the country, including the Apple iPhone 11, Apple iPhone 12, and, most recently, the Apple iPhone 13.
The flagship Apple iPhone 13 comes with an improved 5G experience, super-fast performance, and power efficiency with the A15 Bionic CPU, extended battery life, and a flat-edge design with excellent durability.
Customers in India, among other regions, were able to purchase the iPhone 13 at the same time as those in the United States, a first for the country.
Apple has a lengthy history in India, dating back more than 20 years. Apple opened its online store in September 2020, and the forthcoming opening of the Apple Store demonstrates the company’s commitment to the country.
