Instagram will Never Get Dedicated App for iPad

Instagram does not appear to be interested in developing an iPad app. The announcement will delight iPad users, who have long wished for a separate app for iPad apps. Adam Mosseri detailed the reasons why Instagram may never get an app designed specifically for the iPad OS in a Twitter post. Interestingly, WhatsApp, which is also owned by Meta, was found working on a separate version for iPad OS, but it appears that the messaging service has abandoned the concept as well.

Instagram does not have a functional app for iPad in 2022, according to Marques Brownlee, a well-known YouTuber. “It’s still just not a big enough group of individuals to be a priority,” Mosseri responded to his tweet. We’re hoping to get to it eventually, but for now we’re focused on other things.

“I call these “finally features,” he stated in another tweet. Support for dark mode, scheduled postings, an iPad app, and deleting one photo from a carousel are just a few examples. Mosseri believes that there aren’t enough iPad users in the globe, therefore we’ll have to wait a bit longer for an Instagram app for iPad.

On an iPad, using an Instagram app is the same as using it on a computer. Despite the fact that the iPad has a back and front camera, you cannot use the camera for Instagram. You can add photographs to your gallery that are already there. Similarly, you may use the iPad to post short films or even boomerangs. Although Mosseri has ruled out an Instagram app for the time being, he may consider doing so in 2023.

In terms of iPad users, according to market research firm IDC, Apple sold over 17.5 million iPads in the fourth quarter of 2021 around the world. According to the survey, Apple accounted for 34% of the global tablet market last year.

In a similar development, Instagram’s IGTV app will be phased down. The photo-sharing app said that the IGTV app will be discontinued in order to make video content “as simple to discover and produce as possible.” “As part of our efforts to make video discovery and creation as simple as possible, we will no longer be maintaining our standalone IGTV app.” Instead, we’ll concentrate on making sure that all videos are available on the main Instagram app. “We feel that having all of these features and abilities in the main app makes it easier for people to use, and we’re thrilled to continue to simplify and improve video in the main Instagram app over the coming months,” the firm added.
