There are a lot of new DC movies after Black Adam that coming out over the next few years. There are 19 titles that don’t sound too bad and could give Marvel a run for its money.
In the past few years, there have been a lot of changes in the DC movie world. And it looks like there won’t be a sequel to Zack Snyder’s Justice League. However, many other characters are about to explode on the big screen, with sequels to very successful movies and solo stories of characters we haven’t seen before.
What Marvel did with the Avengers saga forced DC to get out of its comfort zone, try new things, and bet on a darker and more mature style. This is why we got the Joker movie with Joaquin Phoenix and a version of The Suicide Squad with a lot of dark humor, blood, and violence.
James Gunn’s Suicide Squad was one of the most anticipated movies of 2021, and The Batman followed in its footsteps. However, you shouldn’t forget about DC after that. There’s more than Aquaman, a movie in which Cobra actor Kai will become a superhero, and more than Joker. Remember when the following DC movies will come out in 2023:
Shazam! Fury of the Gods (June 2, 2023)
The first Shazam movie was a big surprise, so people are looking forward to seeing more of the heroes who showed up at the end, including Mary Marvel, in this sequel. Rachel Zegler, Lucy Liu, and Helen Mirren are the new bad guys who want Shazam’s powers.
The Flash (June 23, 2023)
This is another one of the most-anticipated movies, since there are rumors that some veteran actors from the world of DC will return with their most famous characters, showing DC’s own version of the multiverse. Ben Affleck’s will play the role of Batman for the last time, and that Michael Keaton will be back. Problems with the actor Ezra Miller have hurt the movie, but it looks like it will still come out as planned.
Blue Beetle (August 18, 2023)
Another movie that will only be on HBO Max when it comes out. Not much is known about Blue Beetle yet. But we can confirm that Cobra Kai’s Xolo Mariduea could play the main character. This is a superhero who gets his powers when an alien beetle attaches itself to his spine.
Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom (December 25, 2023)
James Wan directs this sequel, which stars Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera (because they won’t give in to fan pressure), Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta. This time, they will show more of the world of Atlantis and the seven kingdoms that are under the sea. We will also see the Lost Kingdom that the title refers to.
Joker: Folie à Deux (October 4, 2024)
Joaquin Phoenix will play the criminal clown again in the long-awaited sequel to Joker. This time, he is joining by Lady Gaga, who will add some music to the story. Details of the story has not been confirmed. But some theories say that Joker could meet Harley Quinn or a fake Joker.
The Batman 2
Robert Pattinson’s first movie as Batman, known as The Batman 2, was a huge success, and the story was in the perfect place to continue with a second movie. There will be more than one series of The Batman, and at least one sequel, in which we will find out what happens now that Bruce Wayne knows that revenge is not the best way to go.
Batgirl (2023-2024)
The same person who wrote Birds of Prey and The Flash also wrote the script for this movie. This will only be shown on HBO Max. We only know for sure that Leslie Grace will play Barbara Gordon for now.
Supergirl (2023-2024)
People say that this movie has been in the works for a few years, but we don’t know much about it yet. Only that Sasha Calle will be the main character is known for sure.
Zatanna (2023-2024)
In this movie, there’s a kind of witch who casts spells in a way that’s not too different from how Scarlet Witch does it. The script is being written by Emerald Fennell, who wrote “Promising Young Woman.” There was a rumor that Eiza Gonzáles could play Zatanna.
Static Shock (2023-2024)
This movie was announced at DC FanDome 2020. Michael B. Jordan is going to produce the film. Except this, no other details are known.
