On April 28, 2022, the OnePlus 10R 5G was released. It debuted less than a month after the OnePlus 10 Pro 5G. OnePlus has unveiled its flagship series in its entirety, along with a number of other products. However, the corporation has launched them independently this time. The OnePlus 10 Pro 5G (review) was the first to arrive, followed by the OnePlus 10R 5G, and is soon to be followed by the OnePlus 10T 5G. (August 3, 2022). I’m not sure what the goal is there, but here’s the thing: the OnePlus 10R 5G isn’t exactly a flagship device. It’s more of a mid-range premium smartphone. Here’s my opinion on the device.
OnePlus 10R 5G Review and Full Phone Specifications
Design
When it comes to design and overall appearance, the OnePlus 10R 5G is my least favorite of the OnePlus smartphones. The OnePlus 9R’s camera bump was a significant turn-off for me, but with the OnePlus 10R 5G, the displeasure has only deepened. It’s difficult to comprehend why OnePlus doesn’t give its ‘R’-branded devices a good design! To be honest, the OnePlus Nord 2 and OnePlus Nord 2T look better than the OnePlus 10R 5G. Of course, this is all subjective to me, but there is no premiumness to the OnePlus 10R 5G.
The front and back of the body are composed of plastic. The rear has a dual texture that, to be honest, makes little difference to me. On the black edition I owned, the OnePlus branding in the bottom right is almost invisible. The camera bump, for lack of a better phrase, is simply unnerving to me.
The smartphone’s power button is on the right side, while the volume rockers are on the left. The edges are fairly flat and thick.
A USB Type-C connector is located at the bottom, along with the speaker grill on the right and the SIM tray on the left. I like how the bezels on all sides aren’t too huge, especially on the chin, which could have made the device appear pretty terrible. Its dimensions are 16.33 cm x 7.55 cm x 0.82 cm, and it weighs only 186 grams, so it’s not very heavy. Let us now examine the device’s display.
Display
The OnePlus 10R 5G features a 6.7-inch Fluid OLED display with a resolution of 2412 x 1080 and a refresh rate of 120Hz. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass and can vary refresh rates adaptively based on the information on the screen.
This smartphone’s maximum brightness is rather acceptable. Nothing too large, but yet nothing too small. One thing I’ve always stated is that OnePlus provides a fantastic display interaction experience to its customers. The OxygenOS 12 allows OnePlus to accomplish this to a significant extent.
There is no bloatware, the transitions are smooth, and the touch is quite responsive because to the 360Hz touch response rate. It would be a pleasant experience to watch videos on this smartphone. The audio output is also rather good. When I tried to unlock the device, the in-display fingerprint sensor was fairly responsive.
Like the iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 series, the display has flat corners and the device is very boxy, which can give some individuals a little unpleasant feeling when holding it for long periods of time.
Performance
As expected, the OnePlus 10R delivers excellent performance. It has a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 MAX chipset, which is a special version of the Dimensity 8100 CPU from OnePlus. When it comes to memory, you may choose between 128GB and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage, as well as 8GB or 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM.
During my testing and usage, the Dimensity 8100 Max performed admirably and gave a superb performance comparable to the Snapdragon 888. The phone was relatively smooth and responsive.
There’s not much to complain about in terms of performance on the OnePlus 10R, which is good news for prospective consumers. High-end gaming and rigorous multitasking are no problem for the phone.
Because most game developers have optimized their games for Qualcomm chipsets, game optimization on this phone lags behind that of Qualcomm flagships, at least for the time being. You’ll have to wait a few months for graphically demanding games to be optimized for the MediaTek Dimensity 8100.
We attempted to play some games such as BGMI, Asphalt 9, and COD: Mobile. As expected, all of the games performed smoothly in high graphics mode. BGMI, on the other hand, can only go up to HD + High settings, which is disappointing at this pricing. Hopefully, this will be addressed in a future version.
The cooling system, not the performance, is the star of this show. The 10R comes equipped with the company’s largest vapour chamber to date, as well as graphene and graphite thermal pads. The overall result is incredible since the phone maintains a healthy body temperature even during intense gaming.

Software
In terms of software, the Oneplus 10R runs Oxygen OS 12.1 on Android 12. OxygenOS 12.1 is largely ColorOS 12 with a few minor tweaks. OxygenOS was once noted for its simple and uniform appearance; however, that all changed when the OS was integrated with ColorOS.
It was refreshing to see that there is no bloatware on the device. You will also obtain a variety of useful features that come standard with OxygenOS. A private vault, a dedicated dark mode, and a range of motions are among the features.
One of OxygenOS 11’s great features was the option to customize the navigation buttons by simply assigning alternative shortcuts to them when held down or double-tapped.
Another useful feature was something called the Hidden Space screen. This functionality allowed users to hide app drawer icons.
According to the business, the 10R would only receive two major OS updates and three years of security patches, lagging behind competitors such as Apple, Samsung, and even Xiaomi’s flagships.
Cameras
At the back, the OnePlus 10R 5G boasts a triple-camera arrangement with a 50MP Sony IMX766 primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide-angle sensor, and a 2MP macro sensor. At the back, there is also an LED flash. The front of the gadget sports a 16MP sensor for selfies. The back camera of the OnePlus 10R 5G can capture videos and photographs in a variety of modes, including Nightscape 2.0, Super Macro, UltraShot HDR, Smart Scene Recognition, Portrait Mode, Pro Mode, Video Nightscape, Video HDR, Video Portrait Timelapse, and more.
The camera software is simple to use, and if you’ve used an Oppo or OnePlus smartphone in the last few years, you’ll be familiar with the experience. The camera work was excellent. I wouldn’t say the lack of Hasselblad cameras made a significant difference because the images were still quite good and consistent. Take a look at some of the examples provided below.
Battery
The OnePlus 10R’s selling point is its battery technology, and the Endurance version is promised to fully charge the phone in roughly 20 minutes. To begin, Endurance edition users must enable rapid charge from Settings in order to take advantage of the full capability. The phone did charge to 50% in about 5 minutes, but it took almost 25 minutes to reach full capacity – most likely to reduce stress on the smartphone.
The phone effortlessly lasted an entire day during our testing, even with intense gaming, 120Hz enabled, and Dark Mode enabled. I even left the AOD on, which automatically drains more battery power. My guess is that the normal edition will have more battery life per charge due to the 5,000mAh unit. That would be a better value for individuals who would rather have a good battery than a camera.
Verdict
If you want to get your hands on the OnePlus 10R 150W, you’ll have to pay Rs 42,999. It should come as no surprise that the smartphone bears many characteristics with the brand-new Realme GT Neo 3, which is priced similarly.
With its features, this phone has the potential to be a superb mid-range flagship. This phone delivers strong performance and impressive quick charging capability, in addition to its eye-catching design and vivid display.
Some of the phone’s specifications, though, are merely mediocre. The majority of the phone’s issues are caused by software, which can be repaired.
Overall, the OnePlus 10R is a good daily-use phone that can handle most tasks.
