Telegram has released a major upgrade that will remove the limit on how many people can watch a broadcast. The software has also included a function that proposes trending stickers to users and enhanced the way messages are passed between chats. During a chat, Telegram will also show if a person is selecting a sticker. New animated stickers will also be available to users. Telegram has also apparently stopped supporting its Wear OS app, which is no longer accessible for download from the Google Play store.
Telegram 8.0, the newest significant upgrade to the instant messaging software, adds the possibility to have an unlimited audience for a Livestream. When starting a Livestream in a Channel or a Group Video Call, hosts can now entertain an unlimited number of people. The audience can also raise their hand and participate in the broadcast if the host permits it.
Telegram has also made it easier for users to forward messages between chats. They’ll be able to preview the messages they forward in a particular window before they’re sent, so they can see how they’ll look. Users can also customize their messages by hiding the original sender’s name, hiding captions, deselecting messages they don’t want to send, and changing the recipient if desired.
Users can now scroll through numerous Channels indefinitely without having to exit one if the information in it has concluded. Users can swipe up from the bottom of the Channel to instantly advance to the next Channel. Telegram, in particular, respects the order in which users have archived or grouped different Channels.
In Telegram’s Stickers menu, there’s a new function as well. Above the Recently Used panel, the instant messaging app will now display a Trending Stickers panel. “The thumbnails expand and show the names of your sticker packs when you browse through your packs at the top of the panel,” the software says. With the upgrade, Telegram on Android will gain larger previews for sticker ideas.
If a user you’re conversing with is selecting a sticker, the top of the chat window will display choosing a sticker status, which will show typing… or recording a voice message. A new feature for channels will be the ability to see how many comments have been left unread in the chat. Telegram has also gained a new set of animated emojis as part of the update.
Finally, Telegram’s Wear OS app has vanished from the Google Play store, according to Google. Telegram has been contacted by News Media to see if the app’s Wear OS functionality has been discontinued. When we receive feedback, we will update this report.
