At any point in the year, there are usually no more than a few weeks until a new superhero movie comes out in theaters. The fact that so many comic book characters have already come back to the big screen in the last few months shows that 2022 is true. There’s a lot more where that came from.
In Samaritan, Sylvester Stallone will play a hero who lives alone and is thought to be dead. A young boy hopes to find him. In Black Adam, Dwayne Johnson will learn what it means to be a good person. Then, in Shazam!, Lucy Liu and Helen Mirren will be the Greek goddesses Kalypso and Hespera. The anger of the gods. That’s just between now and December. Michael Keaton will play Batman again in The Flash in 2023, while Miles Morales from Spider-Man goes Across the Spider-Verse in the first of a two-part sequel to Across the Spider-Verse.
It can be hard to keep track of all the things that are still to come. But don’t worry, we’ve put together a list of all the new superhero movies coming from Marvel, DC, and other studios so you don’t have to. Before you run to the theater, check out our guides on how to watch Marvel movies in order and how to watch DC movies in order.

Black Adam – October 21, 2022
The character of Black Adam will be brought to the big screen this autumn by Warner Bros, with a self-titled DC Comics feature film starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson as the main villain/antihero. Here’s all you need to know about the upcoming Black Adam film.
In October, Dwane Johnson will make his debut as Shazam’s enemy Black Adam in a standalone DC film from Warner Bros.
Black Adam is often portrayed as a bad guy, but his backstory is complicated and has been changed several times. He has been around for a long time and has even been in the 1981 animated TV show Shazam. In Adam’s first origin story, he was shown to be an ancient pharaoh who was the first person to be given Shazam’s powers (whose name first stood for the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and speed of Mercury). Adam is like a bad version of Superman.
In the new Black Adam movie, it will be interesting to see if the character becomes more of an antihero. The trailer hints that his son had a traumatic past and teases: “There are good people and bad people. “Well, heroes don’t kill people,” says Black Adam. “But I do.”
Shazam: Fury of the Gods – December 16, 2022
Shazam! Finally, Fury of the Gods will not come out on December 16, 2022. Fans won’t have to wait too long, though, since the new release date is December 21, 2022. The good thing about this delay is that it will keep this superhero movie from coming out at the same time as Avatar 2. which is already set to come out on December 16, 2022.
