WhatsApp, which is owned by Facebook, has been working on a number of new features, including multi-device capabilities, Terms of Service, and more. Facebook Messenger and Instagram-style emoji reactions will now be available on WhatsApp Web and desktop, as well.
WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will allow users to respond to messages on WhatsApp in the same way that they would on Facebook Messenger or Instagram. WhatsApp for Android, iOS, Web, and Desktop is currently being developed with this capability.
A user can only respond to a message with text, GIFs, stickers, emoticons, and even videos at the moment. Unlike Instagram, where users can respond to a message with one of five emoji reactions including heart, LOL, wow, sobbing, angry, and thumbs up, users can’t respond to a message with a predetermined collection of reactions. Instagram users will also be able to add a seventh reaction by selecting an emoji from the app’s reaction library. When it comes to responding to a message, Facebook Messenger follows the same procedure.
According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is currently working on a similar message reaction feature for its platform, and it is also introducing this feature by letting users who are on an older version of the app know that they have received a reaction, which they can’t see because they’re on an older WhatsApp version and that they should update it.
Basic information about this feature is presently unavailable, as it is still in development, and users will have to wait a few more days for the update to appear in the app.
