WhatsApp appears to have no intention of slowing down, since the business is currently working on a number of new features. According to WaBetaInfo, the messaging service is now testing the ability to assist individuals move their chat history from Android to iOS. According to a new source, the platform is now testing a crucial security feature for its desktop and web versions.
WhatsApp is apparently aiming to implement two-step verification only for the purpose of increasing security, as many individuals use the messaging program for both business and personal purposes. While the web and desktop versions of the service currently enable biometric authentication, the new one will provide customers with even more security and protection against scammers.
Users on both the desktop and the browser will soon be able to enable two-step verification. According to WaBetaInfo’s screenshot, there are two choices for enabling this feature. You can set a PIN or add an email address to WhatsApp.
“After inputting the 6-digit code to register your WhatsApp account, a personal PIN will be required to log into the account.” WhatsApp wants to make it easier to manage two-step verification across the board, thus they’re working on bringing it to the web/desktop client in the near future,” according to the source.
For smartphone users, the same feature is already available. As of now, it’s unclear when the feature will be accessible for public beta testers, as the quoted source claims that it’s still in the early stages of development. However, this feature is scheduled to be available this year on WhatsApp.
How can you keep your WhatsApp account safe?
The fingerprint authentication feature, as well as two-step verification, are currently available to mobile users. If someone gets their hands on your phone, they won’t be able to view your WhatsApp conversations because the app will prompt them to enter a security PIN or scan their fingerprint.
The app’s fingerprint lock feature may be found in the Privacy section. Simply go to Settings > Account to enable two-step verification. When you enable biometric authentication on your smartphone, you’ll have to unlock the app first before you can link it to your account.
